Design Begins With Words
Before any design gets started we use words to describe what we want.
We want it to look sharp, cool, hot or different. That last word, different
is used a lot! People want to be different, but they always point to some
other design and say "I want something like that, but different!(1)" I like to
say everything is a cliché until you put your own "stamp" on it.

Planning With Words
A website design, more than ever before, should be planned using words,
not only for the look, but for how it will be found and used. What you
say is as important as to how your site will look.
What Do You Say?
It's surprising how many businesses don't use the web to expand on buzz
words they use in their marketing. A company will say that customer service
is important to them but they don't expand on it. They don't tell us a story of
how someone benefited from their customer service. Everybody loves a good
story. Don't be afraid to tell yours.
When I complete a website I stay in touch with the client and keep them
up to date with emerging trends on the web and on areas of their business.
Keywords - SEO (Search Engine Optimization)
Do you know what words people are searching when it comes to the service
or goods that you offer? What you think and what is actually being used varies
and it's always good to find out what the leading keywords are before you
start a web site design. Keyword research is important.
I've worked on sites where I was given a list of keywords they wanted to focus
on and I had to report back to them that what they had chosen was not being
used by people on the search engines.
